About

The UEWForum Mission:

“To protect, restore and enhance the long-term ecological, social and economic well-being of the watershed by identifying key watershed issues, promoting awareness and understanding, and implementing proactive measures.”

The Upper Eel Watershed Forum (UEWForum) was established in 1997 by a group of local community leaders. It expanded and developed over several years through inclusive workshops of diverse stakeholders, and was incorporated as a nonprofit in 2000. In its early years, the organization undertook an extensive watershed analysis, salmonid and riparian habitat restoration projects, educational and student internship activities, and sediment transport reduction projects. Following a decade in which the organization was mostly dormant, a new board of directors was seated in 2020, began holding monthly board meetings, and charted the organization’s much-needed revival as a local forum for regenerative process.
